Twisted ladder

Curl back
The road to the unknown:
A twisted ladder,
A blaming dominoe.
Seek no complexity in its mechanism:
It’s the old earth that struggles
To swallow all frozen creatures
Sitting on the standby.

It is not their anxiety
That holds you back;
It’s the eyelids that defeat the muscle
Within a blood-reddened puzzle
That draws its curtains at night.

So curl it back,
Join the struggle
Until the paths are blocked.
Let the picture reflect upon
this twisted, tortured mess;
this kingdom built on rubble.

It’s the untouchable, the blinded
That’s shutting all the gates:
For thirty years now
You have been victim
of words like hatred,
Of words like waste.
It’s thirty years now, entangled
in a maze of pink pain
they have painted for you
and you have learnt to love.
